Hermopolis Magna is the Greek name for the ancient Egyptian Khemenu, the capital of the 15th upper Egyptian nome. The site is much destroyed, but there are still surviving traces of monuments from the Middle Kingdom (c. 2055-11650 BCE) to the Roman Period (31 BCE-395 CE).
