Gypsum

Gypsum is composed of calcium sulphate and lime plaster of calcium carbonate to which water is added.  Limestone in Egypt is extracted in Aswan, Alexandria, Beni Souef, Sinai and Fayyoum.  The advantage of plaster is its versatile use in shaping geometric and naturalistic and epigraphic motifs and for making frescoes.
