Description

This mask is part of a full cover of a mummy. It is made of linen reinforced by colored gypsum, which is known as Cartonnage Coffins, or Carton. The mask covers the entire head extending to the neck and chest. Such types of full cover used to enable the documentation of the funerary symbols and inscriptions common to mummies. They are also usually gold plated as they belong exclusively to distinguished people, mostly priests. It is a mask of a middle aged woman with wide almond eyes and high large Egyptian ears, which are typical Egyptian features. The face is golden, and Egyptian funerary drawings are inscribed on the chest area.
