  • Where can I buy tickets to the Antiquities Museum?

- Tickets may be purchased at the ticket booth located opposite the Museum (B1 level).
- Combo tickets can also be purchased at the Library main ticket office (Port Said street – beside the statue of Ptolemy). The Combo ticket includes access to the Main Library, the Antiquities Museum, the Manuscripts Museum, and the free museums and exhibitions.

  

  • Can I book my tickets online?

    No, this service is not available.

 

  • Can I use my cell phone to make calls in the Museum?

    No, to ensure a peaceful ambience and an enjoyable experience for all visitors, talking on mobile phones is not permitted inside the Museum.

 

  • Is photography and videography permitted inside the Museum?

- Photography, using mobile phones, is allowed for free inside the museum.

- Filming with your phone is, however, not permitted.

- If you would like to use your camera or camcorder, additional tickets are needed. The camera and camcorder are available at the Museum ticket booth (level B1).

Video-recording for commercial use (television/cinema) is permitted after paying set fees. Please send your request on antiquities@bibalex.org 

 

  • Does the Museum offer guided tours? 

- Yes, the Museum offers free guided tours in Arabic and English for small groups (up to 10 people) based on the following schedule.

- Additional tours in French, Italian, Spanish and Greek could be arranged when booking advance and according to the availability of the guides speaking these languages.
 

  • Does the museum offer tours for large groups (schools, Universities groups, groups more than 10 people, etc.)?

    - Yes, but kindly note that you have to book your tour through this link at least 24 hours prior to your visit.
    - Please note that the maximum number allowed is 60 visitors per hour, which will be divided into two groups inside the museum.

     
  • Is the museum wheelchair accessible?

    Yes, it is.

 

  • Does the museum offer special services to the visually impaired?

    - Special tours could be arranged, upon request, for the visually-impaired.

- In addition, braille labels and tablets in raised relief are available for a selection of artifacts from each section of the museum. Visitors with visual disabilities can get a impression of what the artifacts look like by touching these tablets.

  

  • Where can I buy the museum catalogue?

A descriptive catalogue is available for purchase at the Bookshop at the Library Entrance (level E). It provides ample information about the exhibited items compiled by eminent university professors and archaeologists.

 

  • Can I buy souvenirs and reproductions of the exhibited artifacts?

Yes, you can buy reproductions of selected artifacts at the giftshop of the Library (next to the Library main Entrance, Level E).

 

  • How can I know about the Museum events and activities?

The Events and activities are published on our website on the “News and events” page, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.

 

  • Is there a place where I can store my personal bags?

No, non-Egyptian seniors must buy a full ticket.

 

  • Is there a place where I can store my personal bags?

- Only handbags and small backpacks are allowed inside the museum. If you go inside the museum with a backpack, security officers will ask you wear it on the front of your body to protect artworks.

- Safety deposit boxes for small-sized personal luggage (handbags, backpacks, etc.) are available next to main library ticketing office (Port Said Street).

- You cannot leave your luggage inside the museum.
