Antiquities Museum Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony -2024 Year in Review

The BA Antiquities Museum Tour Guides Unit, affiliated with the Cultural Outreach Sector organizes a ceremony celebrating volunteers on the occasion of the end of the training program of the Museum and concluding activities and events during 2024. On this occasion, the Antiquities Museum is honored to invite the volunteers and their families to attend the Closing Ceremony on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, at 10:30 am, Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, Great Hall. This ceremony comes in line with a tradition established by the Museum's management since the launch of this celebration in its first edition, to highlight the efforts of volunteers and celebrate them.
The ceremony begins with a speech by Dr. El-Hussein Abdel Bassir, Director of the BA Antiquities Museum, followed by a speech by Prof. Ahmed A. Zayed, Director of the BA, then Dr. Mohamed Soliman, Head of the BA Cultural Outreach Sector. The ceremony includes excerpts from the most important lectures, activities and presentations all presented by the Museum in 2024 individually or in partnership with several parties, whether from inside or outside the BA, led by the BA Children's and Young People's Libraries and Millennium for Educational Technology.
The ceremony begins with a quick presentation of the activities presented by the Tour Guides Unit with the participation of volunteers throughout the year. Followed by a lecture entitled “Amduat.. What Is Written in the Book and Who Copied It” from the Book of What is in the Underworld delivered by Prof. Takao Kikuchi, Professor of Egyptology at the Egypt Japan University of Science and Technology in Borg El Arab. The lecture will be followed by a presentation of “The Journey” on the Amduat Papyrus, which deals with the ancient Egyptian perception of the journey of the god Ra in the night hours and the dangers he faces in the other world. The show is a collaboration between the Antiquities Museum Tour Guides Unit and Eng. Ahmed Emara, Founder of Millennium EduTech.
The ceremony continues with a documentary film about the various training programs launched this year, starting with the periodic basic training for volunteer tour guides, the information desk, the Little Tour Guides Initiative training, as well as lectures and workshops. The ceremony concludes with honoring volunteers and distributing certificates of appreciation.
