The Antiquities Museum, affiliated to the BA Cultural Outreach Sector, celebrates the International Museum Day, in cooperation with the General Authority for Tourism Promotion and Antika Charitable Association for Development, on Wednesday, 18 May 2022, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Conference Center, Hexagone, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The theme of this year’s celebration is “The Power of Sustainability”, which includes strengthening social economy, dissemination of scientific information on environmental challenges, as well as innovation in the field of assistive digital applications.
The International Day of Museums is celebrated on the eighteenth of May, every year, to confirm the importance of museums and their role in preserving heritage, evoking history, spreading culture and artistic taste, as well as emphasize museums' educational role and their importance as a tourist attraction.
The Antiquities Museum will present a series of workshops that coincide with this year's theme. The workshops will focus on pottery using the pottery wheel, weaving using looms and wicker, recycling of some daily used objects, and the use of virtual reality technology. A presentation will also be delivered on the celebration of International Museum Day, and the museum's mission and vision to promote sustainable development goals.
