Online Lecture
The Antiquities Museum and Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology, affiliated to the Cultural Outreach Sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, are organizing an online lecture entitled “An Ancient Artifact in the Digital Age”, delivered by Dr. Hanan Ebeid, lecturer of interior design and architecture theories at Benha University. The lecture will be broadcasted on Sunday, 29 May 2022, 1:00 pm, via the Antiquities Museum's Facebook page.
The lecture sheds light on the role of museums and their artifacts made by successive civilizations in facing the digital age, and what museum-goers will experience in light of these digital changes that will positively affect museum display. This archaeological heritage should be utilized and promoted through interactive activities that create a connection between an ancient past and a present that is manipulated by technology as if it were a puppet. This aims to use modern technologies in order to create a fertile environment that will attract generations who understand the value of what nations own of the human heritage. The lecture reviews a number of digital exhibition experiences around the world, and highlights the experience of Expo 2020 (UAE) with photos and videos, as the latest in museum exhibition contributions, and Egypt's pavilion in this exhibition.
