The Antiquities Museum and Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology, affiliated to the BA Cultural Outreach Sector, organizes a lecture entitled «100 Years on the Discovery of Tutankhamun's Tomb» Thursday, 3 November 2022; 1:00 pm, at the BA, Antiquities Museum, Afterlife Section, by Researcher Stefania Sofra, University of Rome Sapienza, Italy.

The lecture highlights the discovery of the tomb of the young pharaoh Tutankhamun on November 4, 1922, thanks to the initiative of the English archaeologist Howard Carter. What makes the tomb special is that it is the only one that has been found intact, the tomb has become part of the legend due to the treasures found inside it represented in the priceless golden funerary relics of the king. This young pharaoh who ascended to the throne at the age of nine and died after only 10 years of ruling amid speculation and assumptions about the cause of this sudden and early death. The researcher highlights the real cause of his death using the CT scan that was performed on his mummy, which revealed an unexpected surprise, giving a new dimension to one of the most controversial figures in ancient Egyptian history.
