Serapis

The BA Antiquities Museum has received a unique and rare monument from the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria, to be displayed temporarily at the Antiquities Museum. The rarity is the upper part of the statue of the god Serapis represented as a man carrying the basket of holy secrets over his head. Serapis, was the official deity of the ancient city of Alexandria and was worshipped widely during the Greek and Roman eras. This statue was found in the Serapium in Alexandria.
