"Pottery" Abstract
10 July 2011
Pottery became known in Egypt since before 4000 BCE, from pre-dynastic ages through the consecutive ages. The daily need of house ware; plates, cups, jugs, and utensils for storing yields, oils, and grains, was the main reason the ancient Egyptian used pottery.
Pottery began on slow wheels, then it advanced when Man invented the fast wheel. The advancement did not stop there; the use of molds led to a huge leap in the industry. Using one mold, a potter can produce many forms of utensils, cups, and other items.
Afterwards, glass was introduced to pottery and led to what is known as Chinese ceramics. The industry eventually developed into the manufacture of floor tiles, which is an indication that the industry was at its peak of advancement at that time.
