Museum Education Exhibit 2011 - 2012

09 October 2011

The BA Antiquities Museum is organizing an exhibition to display the artworks created by the children and young people enrolled in the three-month Museum Education Program for the year 2011/2012. The Exhibition will be held at the end of the summer vacation.
The Program sponsored by the BA Antiquities Museum reflects the cultural and educational role the Museum plays. It introduces children to the history and civilization of their ancestors in order to consolidate their connection with the past, heighten their sense of belonging, and encourage them to maintain monuments by providing them, through lectures, with the related historical information.
The Museum Education Program helps children develop their talents, interests, and artistic skills by showing them how to use various materials, and by providing them with the opportunity to research, experiment with, and explore the historical monuments. In addition, the children’s engagement in this kind of activities away from home and school is in itself an interesting experience that stimulates innovation, and helps them make use of their spare time in an enjoyable and useful way.
Participants used different materials and techniques to create their artworks. They drew on canvas, glass, and plexiglass; did cork burning, carved gypsum, linoleum, and salt; shaped clay and plasticine; hammered copper; and also drew and painted using coal, acrylic paint, gouache, watercolors, pastel colors, ceramic colors, and glass colors.
