Reconstruction of Mosaics
26 October 2017
The BA Antiquities Museum has exhibited, for the first time, two complete pictures of two mosaics, one depicting two wrestling men and the other depicting a sitting dog, displayed at the Antiquities of the BA Site Hall. As part of the museum’s plans to develop the display of its archaeological acquisitions and as part of its belief in the role of technology in museum displays, this initiative aims to allow visitors to compare between the incomplete artifacts and the pictures that include the missing pieces.
Historical resources and the latest technological techniques (graphics) were used in restoring the missing parts. This initiative aims to simplify information by clarifying the original state of the artifact and bringing the missing image closer to mind.
The Antiquities of the BA Site collection is among the Antiquities Museum’s most prized acquisitions, as it was excavated during the construction of the BA foundations in 1993.
