Rescuing the Ras el-Soda Temple: between the Past and Present

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) Antiquities Museum is organizing a festivity in collaboration with the Alexandria Archaeological Area Department (Department Of Archaeological Awareness), entitled “Rescuing the Ras el-Soda Temple: between the Past and Present”. It will be held on Monday, 23 April 2018, at 12:00 noon at the BA Auditorium. This festivity will include various lectures about the archaeological importance of the Ras el-Soda Temple, which will be delivered by Dr. Ezzat Kadous, Professor of Greco-Roman Archaeology, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University; followed by a lecture about saving the Ras el-Soda Temple, which will be delivered by Ms. Dalia Ezzat, Archaeological Inspector and Archaeological Awareness Official. The last lecture will be about the museographic display of the Ras el-Soda Temple at the BA Antiquities Museum to be delivered by Dr. Al Hussein Abdel Bassir, Director of the BA Antiquities Museum. A photography exhibition of the temple will also accompany the festivity, where diverse and unique pictures of the original location of the temple, as well as pictures of the antiquities found in the temple in 1936, will be displayed. The festivity will conclude with a visit to the BA Antiquities Museum to see how some of the antiquities taken from this temple are presented.
