The BA Antiquities Museum, affiliated with the Cultural Outreach Sector, organizes a lecture titled "Methods of Smuggling Antiquities across Egyptian Borders" on Wednesday, 28 August 2019, at 1:00 pm in the Auditorium. The lecture will be delivered by Hamdy Hamam, Head of the Central Administration for Archaeological Units at Egyptian Ports, Ministry of Antiquities.
The lecture will discuss the establishment of the Central Administration for Archaeological Units at Egyptian Ports at the Ministry of Antiquities, its units, and its role in the preservation of Egyptian cultural heritage and the prevention of its theft. The lecture also presents the most famous smuggling operation in history, and the efforts of the Egyptian government to recover the smuggled piece. In addition, the lecture explains the most well-known methods of smuggling antiquities through the Egyptian ports, which were observed by the Central Administration for Archaeological Units at Egyptian Ports. The lecture will conclude by presenting examples of failed smuggling operations through Egyptian ports, providing photos of the smuggling operations and after the seizure.
