The BA Antiquities Museum, affiliated with the Cultural Outreach Sector, organizes a lecture titled "Helwan, the City of Palaces and Chateaux: A Study in the Origins of the City, its History and Antiquities" on Wednesday, 25 December 2019 at 2:00 pm, at the BA Khadijah Palace, Helwan, Cairo. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Abdel Monsef Salem Hassan Negm, Professor and Head of the Archeology Department, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University.
The lecture addresses the emergence of the ancient city of Helwan, which was built by Abdul Aziz bin Marwan in the Umayyad period and continued until the end of the Ottoman era. The lecture will also discuss the city of Helwan El-Hammamet, which was built by Khedive Ismail, and the most important structures that were built in the city during his reign until that of King Farouk, including palaces, hotels, buildings designated for recreational or cultural activities, and public utility facilities.
