The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Manuscript and Antiquities Museums, which are part of the Library’s Cultural Outreach Sector, are organizing a workshop entitled Modern Scientific Methods for the Conservation, Display, and Storage of Archaeological Wood Applied on Wooden Manuscript Covers on 10-12 November 2020, at 11:00, in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, Meeting Room E.
The Workshop is delivered by Dr. Said Abdel-Hamid Hassan, Wood Restoration Expert and General Director at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The Workshop showcases best practices and modern scientific methods in curing and maintaining archaeological wood in general, colored and gold-plated wood in particular, as applied on some wooden manuscript covers and many other wooden antiquities and artifacts; such as: icons, wooden antiques and artifacts, as well as different artistic paintings.
