The Antiquities Museum and the Zahi Hawass Center of Egyptology; affiliated to the
Bibliotheca Alexandria Cultural Outreach Sector, organize an online lecture entitled "Establishing a Pan-Arab Fund to Preserve Heritage", to be delivered by Dr. Okasha El-Daly, Head of Acquisitions, Qatar University Press, Qatar University. The lecture will be broadcast on Tuesday, 28 September 2021; 7:00 pm, via the Antiquities Museum’s Facebook page: Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum.
The lecture sheds light on the gravity and importance of the issue of preserving tangible, natural and intangible heritage, and the urgent need to establish an Arab heritage protection fund to discover the most effective ways through which this heritage can be preserved for our generation and for future generations. The time has come to unify Arab efforts to safeguard our heritage and to benefit from the scientific and field expertise that is now abundant in all parts of the Arab world, as well as the trained experts in the field, including members of international institutions concerned with heritage, such as ICOM, ICOMOS, IUCN, and others. Furthermore, we should not forget the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and its prestigious position as a beacon of knowledge, as it is the incubator of this innovative initiative.
