The Antiquities Museum and Zahi Hawass Center of Egyptology, affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Cultural Outreach Sector, in cooperation with the Department of Archeology and Civilization, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University, organize an online lecture entitled “Women sports in Indian Painting”. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Nourhan Zaid Ameen, Lecturer of Islamic Painting, Department of Archeology, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University. The lecture will be broadcast on Sunday, 28 November 2021, at 7:30 pm, through the Antiquities Museum's Facebook page: Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum.
The lecture sheds light on the identification of the various sports practiced by Indian women through the Indian School manuscript miniatures. The study demonstrates the extent to which Indian women have been interested in their physical fitness and sports activity. In addition to their agility and skill while performing various sports, such as hunting, shooting, swimming, ball and mace (polo), gymnastics, and dancing, Indian women practice various mental sports and yoga.
