The Antiquities Museum and the Zahi Hawass Center of Egyptology affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandria Cultural Outreach Sector, in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities and Civilization affiliated to the Faculty of Arts at Helwan University, organize an online lecture entitled “Treasures of Gilding Art and Decoration in Islamic Manuscripts”. The lecture is delivered by Prof. Tamer Mokhtar Mohamed; Assistant Professor of Islamic Art, Department of Antiquities and Civilization, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University. The lecture is broadcasted on Monday, 27 December 2021; 7:30 pm, on the “Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum” Facebook page.
The lecture sheds light on the history of gilding and its methods of use, as applied to early Quranic manuscripts, as well as the gilding used in Eastern and Moroccan manuscripts, in addition to highlighting the most famous Muslim gilders mentioned in Islamic manuscripts.
