The Antiquities Museum and the Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology, affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Cultural Outreach Sector, organize a lecture entitled “Women’s Rights in Ancient Egypt”, Monday, 30 October 2023; at 5.00 pm, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Main Building, Third Floor Floating Room (F3). The lecture is delivered by Dr. Manal Fawzi; Lecturer of History and Ancient Egyptian Civilization at the Tour Guiding Department, Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotels in Alexandria (EGOTH).

Life in ancient Egypt brought together the members of the nation, men and women, in a cohesive social unit dominated by a progressive view of women, guided by the relationship between men and women based on pure humanitarian principles, and crowned by a sincere belief in women's important mission and role in society. This is why we find that women in ancient Egypt enjoyed a distinguished status, unlike other women in various ancient human societies and civilizations, such as the Greek and Roman societies, where they lived captive to customs, traditions, and strict restrictions under the care of men.
