CIPEG Annual Meeting 2026

The ICOM International Committee for Egyptology, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum, affiliated with the Cultural Outreach sector, and the America University in Cairo are proud to announce that the 2026 annual meeting will take place between 30 November – 5 December, 2026 in Alexandria and Cairo.
Theme: Egypt–Mediterranean Encounters
This year's meeting explores the intersection of Egyptian perspectives on Mediterranean encounters within contemporary museum practice. A dedicated session will focus on the digital reunification of dispersed collections—directly aligning with CIPEG’s strategic focus on decolonization and digitization under the wider ICOM framework.
Call for Papers
We invite proposals for paper presentations. Submissions must include a title and an abstract of no more than 200 words, written in English.
Presentation
- Format: 15 minutes, followed by a collective discussion period at the conclusion of each session.

- Abstract Deadline: Saturday, 1 August 2026
General Attendance
If you wish to attend the annual meeting as a non-presenting delegate, please register by 1 August 2026 via the Non-Speaker Registration Form.
CIPEG 2026 Grants
CIPEG is pleased to offer financial support for up to ten Egyptian or Sudanese participants, with preference given to early-career scholars.
Grant Requirements:
- Applicants must be presenting an accepted paper at the meeting.
- Recipients are required to prepare and submit their paper for publication in the CIPEG journal.
